Aulos (αυλός)
The corresponding instrument in Greek traditional music is zurna, a pipe with a vibrating reed requiring circular breathing. It comes in various sizes and names according to the region (ζουρνάς, πίπιζα, καραμούζα, νιάκαρα, ντουντούκα). It is very widespread all over the Balkans, in Turkey and many other countries.
In my opinion the nearest type to instrument used by Ancient Greeks is launeddas, as found in the traditional music of Sardegna in Italy.
